Emotional Capitalists

Digby Morgan’s CEO, John Maxted, recently welcomed some of the country’s leading HR professionals to an exclusive dinner at one of the capital’s most renowned restaurants, One Aldwych.  The highlight of the evening was a fascinating pre-dinner presentation from the internationally acknowledged authority on emotional intelligence and leadership, Dr Martyn Newman.

Around 50 guests attended the dinner including some of the country's most senior HR professionals from a range of blue-chip organisations such as RBS, HP, Accenture, Harrods, Aviva, Dresdner Kleinwort, Skandia, The Economist Group, HSBC, Knight Frank and JP Morgan.

Following a champagne reception, Dr Martyn Newman gave guests a fascinating insight into the concept of how, to be as successful as possible in our personal and professional lives, we need emotional intelligence.  He explained how recent research has established clear links between specific emotional skills and outstanding leadership success.  He discussed how having great leaders at every level of the business is the key to attracting and, most importantly, retaining talent and that emotional capital is the most important source of competitive advantage in business today.  Click here for Whitepaper summarising the presentation.

Following the incredibly well received address, John Maxted, spoke for everyone present when he thanked Martyn for his engaging presentation describing the talk as one of the most visionary he had heard.
