What did you read at University?
Geography BSc at the University of Edinburgh
What were you looking for in your career?
I was looking for a fast paced, varied role where I could develop business acumen and be invested in by my team in terms of excellent training and exposure to talented professionals. I also wanted a role that would be meritocratic in a positive competitive environment that was also collaborative and Digby Morgan offered this.
Why did you choose Digby Morgan?
I chose Digby Morgan because I was incredibly impressed by their professionalism and values. I love the culture and the people here are really what sets Digby Morgan apart and their enthusiasm, drive and belief in what they do.
Which division do you work in?
The team that looks after permanent roles from entry level up to £50,000 across all industry sectors.
Please describe a typical day.
A typical day seems a bit of a foreign concept! However, my day is split into sourcing candidates, interviewing, discussing roles with my team and suitable candidates, speaking with and visiting clients, marketing, writing web ads, submitting CVs, arranging client interviews, closing (hopefully!) and training. This all needs to be covered and although I try to structure my day it usually gets a bit 'ad hoc'; but as long as it's all covered that's perfect for me.
What has your role at Digby Morgan given you from a self-development perspective?
I have gained business awareness and also learnt how to apply myself and juggle a variety of tasks. I have learnt how positivity and determination are so vital and that a supportive team and can-do environment is a real gift.
What advice would you give to candidates thinking of applying to the Associate programme?
What to do after university can be daunting but also really exciting. Think about what you are looking for from your job and what you value. Try and find a company that can meet this by asking lots of questions and being yourself. You can do anything you want so chose something that suits you and that you will enjoy throwing yourself into it.
